Hercules in his Cradle Strangles two Serpents.

The Labours of Hercules are a series of Greek myths which recount the 12 labours carried out by Hercules as penance for having killed his wife and children in a fit of madness induced by Hera, Zeus's wife. Hera was jealous because her husband had impregnated his human mistress, Hercule's mother.

The legends of the Labours of Hercules are losely connected by the framing narrative of Hercules doing pennance by achieving these impossible objectives.
